Beijing Municipal Bureau of Civil Affairs
Beijing Municipal Bureau of Civil Affairs has the following major responsibilities:
1. To research and draft local laws and regulations concerning civil affairs.
2. To organize the disaster relief, social relief and lowest life guarantee work.
3. To provide help to poverty-stricken areas and to manage the social welfare insurance work of the countryside (including township enterprises).
4. To support the military and give preferential treatment to military families and the families of martyrs.
5. To handle social welfare lottery issue.
6. To guide protection of the rights of senior citizens and handicapped persons.
7. To organize the establishment, cancellation and change of the city's administrative divisions.
8. To examine, approve, register and manage the city social groups, branch offices in Beijing of social groups from outside Beijing.
9. To manage marriage registration and children adoption.
10. To give guidance to funeral administrative institutions.
11. To undertake other relevant assignments from Beijing Municipal Government.
