Beijing Municipal Commission of Science and Technology has the following main responsibilities:
1. To formulate strategies, principle, laws and regulations for the development of technology so as to promote development of Beijing's economy, agriculture and society.
2. To draw up and undertake basic research, high-tech research and technological planning for the development of society.
3. To promote the development of the high-tech industry and manage the affairs of Beijing High-tech Experimental Zone.
4. To be responsible for the management of the Beijing technology market, promotion, award and security of technological achievements and coordination of the relevant intellectual property rights.
5. To conduct foreign affairs and attract professional expertise.
6. To increase the development of technology consultancy.
7. To work on imports and exports, adoption and recreation of technology, and strengthen macro-control.
8. To undertake other relevant assignments from Beijing Municipal Government.
