Beijing Tianzhu Airport Development Area
The Development Area has a planned area of 6.6 km 2 . The first-phase development covers 3km 2 . The Development Area engages mainly in five businesses-electronic communication, biological pharmacy, optics-machinery-electronics integration, new materials, and warehousing and transportation. Thus far, some 50 multinational company and 18 of Top 500 in the world have settled in the Development Area; they include Ericson, Sony, Matsushita, JVC, Citizen and SMC.
The Development Area has completed construction of necessary infrastructural facilities.

The Development Area encourages development mainly of the electronic information, biological pharmacy, optics-machinery-electronics integration, new materials, and warehousing transportation. Thus far, it has set up the Hi-Tech Industrialization Base, Scientific and Technological Innovation Base, and Export Base. Efforts are being taken to develop a Development Area for those who studied abroad but have returned to develop businesses and another Area devoted to biological science and technology. "Hi-tech and export-oriented" will be the salient feature of the Development Area.
