4. Full Consideration to the Needs of the Paralympic Games
The preparation and the staging of the 2008 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games will promote the cause for the people with disabilities and create a society where they are respected, cared for and helped. In the construction of the Olympic venues and related facilities, we will give full consideration to the special needs of the athletes and spectators with physical disabilities, to materialize the goal of "equality, participation and sharing".
18 of the Olympic venues will be used for the Paralympic Games. These venues will be designed to be fully accessible for the people with disabilities. For example, these venues will be equipped with photoelectrical and acoustic appliances to assist the athletes in the competitions. All supporting facilities in the Olympic Village will also be so designed.
